i followed the step by step guide and have almost all of the information i requested -
an inspection of the road was made 2 days before i hit the pot hole in question (causing £500+ in damages) and 'no actionable defects found' was reported
i am informed that 'potholes can appear within twenty four hours including significant ones during periods of exreme weather...'
is this reasonable? do i have grounds to take it further? i do have photographs of the pothole i hit (there were 3 in a row)
advice would be greatly recieved
Potholes can appear in minutes, let alone 24 hours, so that is probably not an avenue you could investigate.
If you have verified that the inspection method was OK, then that's probably the end of your claim I'm afraid. If you have not, then I suggest that for your own piece of mind you might want to make sure that the method (speed, walked or driven, two man) of inspection was appropriate to limit the chances that the pothole was there 2 days earlier but missed.
