Hello All,
On the night of 4th November 2011, I hit a pothole I didnt see, pretty hard on the A13 near Pitsea. I checked the wheels over the next am and did not see any damage, albeit I only checked the outer rim and tyre wall. week later driving at 70mph, I could feel a vibration. The next day too the car along to have balancing checked and was shown the wheel that had hot the pothole. The inner wall if the tyre had a huge bulge, and a corresponding dent in the alloy wheel. Tyre cost £184! Alloy wheel safe to use but still have some vibration which cannot be eradicated until alloy replaced, est cost £350.
I've been back to the road since and it appears the pothole has been repaired, so I can't gather any evidence of the pothole although garage have stated on invoice that tyre and rim damage caused by "suspected pothale damage".
Question is: Am I able to submit a claim for the damage? Without evidence of the pothole? Thank You for any advice.
update: persistance pays off. Received settlement this week. Thanks for the advice
The fact it was filled is evidence of its existence. Photographs are useful but not essential. Before you think about claiming though, please have a read of our step by step guide as you have no right to compensation and you will need to prove an element of negligence.
