Having realised that I'd gone through a large pothole through a traffic calming measure at six in the morning I set about changing my tyre( which later required replacement and is retained) Whilst doing this i observed another three go through who all seemed slow down or stop. Sadly all seemed to carry on. Having changed the tyre I reported the matter to the police who said that it would be zipped through to the council. Still cheesed off I set trying to take a picture and sadly found myself with a camera phone with no flash. I returned at 3 pm later that day to be greeted by a council chap filling the hole which he said was about 3-4 inches deep and that that they'd only just got the job. Am I in an easy position or is my best plan to do an FOI to try and see if anyone had reported it previously to either the council or the police. It would seem that after I've reported it anyone else who suffered damage may have a case bar me. Thanks
Put in an FOI request to discover if the local authority had any knowledge of the pothole before you hit it. If they did not and their inspection regime is good, you probably wont be able to recover any costs.
