Tyre damaged

Travelling home from work at 5am saturday morning (4 days ago) I hit a large pot hole on the near side. There was a huge bump and I jumped out to check for wheel damage in a panic. There wasn't any wheel damage so I carried on home. It wasn't until cleaning the car today (wednesday) that I noticed the near side front tyre has a bulge and this definitely wasn't there before. So I dashed back to the pothole scene to take pictures with the aim of claiming however the pothole has since been very shoddily repaired.
Is there anything I can do to claim or am I stuck to pay it myself and move on?
