Dating Street View

I hit a pothole and intend to make a claim against the council. I've located the pothole on Google street view, I've no idea when the street view was recorded but clearly it shows the pothole has been there a long time, albeit in not as bad a state when I hit it.
Any idea's how I can obtain a date of the image?
