council will not refund repairs

Recently i hit a pothole which caused apprix £500 of damage the council say they will not refund me for repairs as they have done what the law requires which is 6 mounthly checks i hit the pot hole exactly 6 months after there last check . they also say it was repaired after a routine chech even though the person who repaired it phoned me to find out exactly where the pothole was so he could repair it ( this was about 4 weeks after i reported it ). A memeber of my family works for the council and has found out that roadside errosion had been reported but the pothole had not been but they still had not been out to insect the road, i can not use the information gained from my family member as i do not want to put them in a possition where he job may be put in jepody. Any Help in this would be greatfuly received

Have a read of out step by step guide for tips on how you might proceed and how you might find out from proper channels what was reported and when.
