Hi,
On Sunday my Dad was on his bicycle and hit a pothole in Sevenoaks, Kent.
He is a very experienced cyclist, who is extremely road aware.
The pothole caused him to crash his bike and he has sustained some pretty bad injuries and is currently in hospital -
3 Broken ribs
Broken collar bone
Broken shoulder blade
Collapsed lung
He is doing really well but should be off work for at least 2 months while he gets better.
Can anyone suggest what our next steps might be if he wants to make a claim?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Laura
If you get this please let me know. I did the same but not as bad (hope he is better) Just broken collar bone. I went to a no win solicitor who after 11 months fobbed me off, saying council had a defense. Did my own research and looks as if he was just not 100% sure so refused case. If you got any further be interesting to hear.
Sounds very nasty, I hope your Dad recovers quickly.
The defence of the highway authority will be the same for this as any other claim, so have a look at our step by step guide for advice on information gathering. However, I do not suggest trying to make a claim for personal injury without some proper legal advice.
1st step - gather some information on behalf of your dad.
2nd step - when he has receovered, advise your dad to book a session with a local claims solicitor (many offer a free inital consultation)
Best wishes.
