In a deep ‘Pot’hole
Has the world gone mad? Proof, if proof were needed, was offered by the Telegraph in the last few days that it matters not a jot what a good upstanding citizen you are when it comes to helping to rid your community of the scourge of potholes.
Geoffrey Martin got tired of waiting for two councils and the local Lord in Staffordshire to resolve their wrangling about who should pay for repairs to an access road, and stumped up the cash for the work himself.
A nice, community-spirited gesture, you might think? Not so, say the crown prosecution! Mr Martin is now facing legal action for his generosity.
So let's get this straight... the councils and the landowner continue to pass the buck but the authorities have the audacity to entertain the idea of legal action against the goodwill of Mr Martin? It appears some decisions, at least, can be made by those in authority as quickly as possible. When it suits them....
