SW15 - Frensham Drive

Drove 106 miles down from Northamptonshire to visit my niece on her 20th birthday.

Gave her a lift to the local shops, for some milk.

Hit the pothole at around 20mph - it's a housing estate road, so it's basically single-file traffic.

It burst/split both passenger side tyres and effectively destroyed 2 alloy wheels.

Photos show damage to front (img31) and rear (img32) tyres and alloys. Paid £134 for replacement tyres, had alloys swapped over, to place most damaged one at the rear (car is fwd).

img33 and img36 show size and depth of pothole - it's 4-inches deep!

If you look carefully at img36, you can just spot the chip on the drain where my alloys fought back.

Advised the Council and my Insurance - quoted £1600 for replacement alloys and tyres.

The "Professionals" who've seen the photos (AA Repair Man, Kingston Tyres mechanics, Rockingham Motors Garage mechanics & sales staff) all horrified at the size and depth of the pothole - general consensus: I was lucky not to total the car.
