Really dangerous pothole

by tara

11 Nov 2010

I hit this pothole on the 1st September. The exact position of this hole, is just as you have turned into the lane and the road temporarily narrows. Allthough there is adequate room for cars to pass each other, you cannot pass beside each other without hitting it. As I discovered. I regularly drive up this road and hadn't noticed it before.

Although I was horrified at the noise it made, it didn't appear to cause any damage to my car, I was still able to drive and made a mental note to avoid it in future. However, over the next couple of days I noticed my car didn't feel the same, as if the tracking had altered. As my car was due for a service, I booked it into the Volvo garage and mentioned the tracking. Imagine my horror, when they tell me the alloy is badly damaged and is dangerous. I cannot drive a dangerous car with two children and the garage already had my car, so I had to have the work done. But I did ask them to keep my alloy. They replaced the alloy and tyre and realigned the wheels. All in all, with the cost of the basic service, I had to pay just over £1,000.

I did try to report the pothole on here at the time, but the internet went down and didn't save my information. However, the pothole is still there and I am getting increasingly irritated that nobody has fixed it. It had been sprayed with red paint when I hit it, and only today (11 November) have they put cones on it, and this is only because the drain has finally collapsed.
