Potholes

by SAAB

02 Jan 2011

I travelled on Essex road over the new bridge heading to Hoddesdon. On reaching the Apex of the bridge I heard and felt a huge bang then another seconds later. It felt like the bottom of my car had collapsed.
Straight away my steering felt heavy with a lot of vibration.
I stopped to quickly check out my front wheel but could not see much as it was dark.
I could see two or three very large potholes in the road which seem to have been there sometime. They are approx 2' to 3' feet in diameter and 5"/ 6 "inches deep.
I went back the next day to take pictures and measurements as I intend to claim for damages as my car is now not safe to drive.
Can anyone tell me how long these holes have been there as this would help my claim
Regard John

Requesting a Freedom of Information Act on this road will let you know of inspections, repairs and reported faults dating back quite a way. As far as claiming successfuly - take a look at our "how to claim" section and follow the step-by-step guide.rnrnBest wishes!
