Neglected Dunstable

Dunstable has come under the auspices of Bedfordshire County Council up until now but this will change next April when it will become part of a new Central Bedfordshire unitary authority. Whenever I have been up to Bedford where the County Council has its office there is always road work going on and not much done at the far southern end of the county. It has been particularly neglected, I believe, since the new council arrangement was decided upon and there has been virtually no work done in Dunstable over the last year or so where just about every road is badly potholed, it's probably being left so that the new council will have to pay for all the work needed (at the extra expense of us poor council tax payers). I have contacted the County Council who say the roads I mentioned in particular, ones I personally use regularly either by bike or car, are down on their list for work - over the next 5 years,dependent on funding from new council! Meanwhile these roads are getting worse and worse while nothing is being done about them. The only road work being done here at the moment is at the southern end of the town on the A5 which is actually being funded by the company taking over a former factory site that they are going to develop. Not good enough!
