Large Pothole southbound A9 between Blackfoard and Greenloaning

by Jonny24

15 Jan 2011

15/01/11 Travelling southbound on the A9 between Blackford Auchterarder and Greenloaning saw a car far in front pulling into hard shoulder with hazard lights flashing pulled into outside lane following a lorry to overtake the car pulling in. Suddenly when entered the out lane hit a massive pothole and immediately lost air in both drivers side wheels and pulled over to the side. Within 20 minutes two further cars had pulled in directly behind me after hitting the pothole themselves. Waiting there for an hour and after replacing the front wheel moved down the road to a small village Greenloaning passing multiple cars in the hard shoulder. 5 hours later back on the road pulled into service station 3 miles down the road from Greenloaning and found they had had even more motorists with severe wheel damage. Both my front and rear drivers side alloys are complete right offs as the outer rim is completely mangled. Require new set of Audi RS4 18" alloys at a cost of £400 and two new tyres. This pothole is a fatal traffic accident waiting to happen!

I was on my way seriously ill father in Ayr General Hospital on Saturday 15th, my wife and younger son were in the car, We drove into this Pothole and came out of it in shock.rnI have not yet had the car checked as my father has since died but i will try to gte this looked at as soon as I can. I am very angry that this sort of pothole wasn't fixed as soon as it was discovered. I will make a claim if there is any damge to my car. We also saw cars on the hard shoulder with drivers checking their cars as they too had obviously driven into it. This pothole was impossible to see as it was full of water with it having been raining for some time. I have fuel receipts to prove we were on route.rnthank you

Jim / Jonny24,rnrnI too had an encounter with the same "wheel eating monster" on Saturday 15th @ 19:10 along with six other motorists who all suffered wheel / suspension damage !! My car (BMW335 Coupe) is currently in the garage for inspection. At the moment a new wheel and tyre has been metioned and an alignment check will also be required to determine any chasis damage !! Not sure of costs as yet.rnrnPlease get in touch with me at alan.gordon10@btopenworld.com as I too have a Police incident and Reference from BEAR Scotland.rnrnI'm looking to persue BEAR for all costs.
