Big (water filled) pothole

by Eddie1

20 Jan 2011

There are actually any number of sizeable potholes along this lane and adjoining lanes. This particular series of potholes are close to a road junction and are very deep.
I was unaware of these potholes when I hit them because the road was in flood (thankfully this meant I was driving slowly). These potholes extend across most of the single track road and the only way to avoid them fully is to creep onto the verge. If anyone finds themself driving down this road when it's in flood, the clue is in the muddy & churned up verge. I've attached a picture that I took a couple of days later when the water had subsided enough to be able to see the road.
These potholes are definitely to be avoided. My car suffered broken front suspension & I suffered a large repair bill and days of inconvenience .
