£1,500.00 Pothole |

by James 18 Jan 2009 In January 2008, I hit a pothole on a dark, wet and windy night. The impact was so great that it burst both front and rear tyres, buckled both alloy wheels and damaged the suspension so badley that my car was in the main dealers for two days whilst they tried to reshim the mounting points and adjust the toe, castor and camber. The cost of all this damage came to just over £1,500.00. Despite, reporting the pothole to the highway Department the following morning, taking photographs and dimensions of the pothole (54cm long, 38cm wide and 15cm deep) the Highways Department and their solicitors are still hidding behind the 1980 Highways Act. In shear desparation I am now just about to take the Highways Department to the Small Claims Court. Wish me luck. |
