No joy from the Highways Agency

On a Sunday lunchtime in January I was driving in this narrow lane close to my home (the road is winding and visibility not good so I was not travelling at speed) when I hit a massive pothole resulting in instant damage to my front wheel (not just the tyre) . I had to call for vehicle recovery and get the completely flat tyre and buckled wheel replaced. I subsequently realised I had also sustained damage to the rear wheel which also had to be replaced by my local dealer.

I wrote to Hertfordshire County Council as advised to make a claim - I am now out of pocket to the tune of almost £500 - but they inform me they do not accept any responsibility.

I am obviously not the only one to have sustained damage... the area was littered with abandoned hub caps.

Grrrr... what do we pay road tax for???? Any ideas how to proceed with my claim?? Small claims court?

Small claims court. I have done this, and they back down as soon as they receive the court summons. When i get a moment, i will post a story about it!
