Details of the incident.
Date: 4 February 2011
Time 14:30
Location Lat. 55.822468N Long. 4.322225W B762 Barrhead Road
Road/Traffic conditions: Heavy rain, busy traffic.
While travelling Eastbound on the B762, my daughter hit a very large deep pothole. The depth of the pot hole was not visible because of the heavy rain which was filling much of the pothole. Evasive action was not possible because of adjacent cars travelling the same direction in the outer lane. This led to two immediate flat tyres on the nearside of the vehicle. The same fate had befallen a number of other vehicles. When I passed along the road a few hours later there was a vehicle stopped with two flat tyres just beyond this pothole with its hazard lights on, which prevented me from hitting the same pothole. There were a further five vehicle stopped at various points along the following 100m of road, along with some rescue and recovery vehicles. When I inspected my vehicle the rims of both nearside alloy wheels had been distorted leading to the flat tyre by loss off an airtight seal. In addition the tyre wall was damaged on both tyres.
I took the advice from this web site and submitted my claim to Glasgow City council for 2 new alloy wheels and 2 tyres. I think it must have been on maximum administrative delay but today I received a cheque for the full amount of the claim.
I am indebted to the help I received from this web site which has helped a successful cliam.
