Carnoustie Street, Glasgow

On our way to the Riverside Museum from the south side, we travelled into Glasgow on the M74 extension, leaving the motorway at the Kinning Park/Tradeston exit. This is the first time I had been in the area since this section of the M74 opened, so I wasn't sure entirely which road I wanted in order to get to the Kingston Bridge - so I took the wrong turn (right) off the slip road and ended up on Carnoustie Street northbound. Just before what used to be the intersection with Gloucester Street (for which the give-way markings are still present on the road), I slowed to approx 20-25mph and there was a massive bang/jolt from the n/s/f wheel of the car. From there, by the time we had reached the junction with Wallace Street I knew we had a puncture. I couldn't stop safely until I was on Paisley Road (A8) eastbound, but by then the tyre was completely flat. The inflation kit which comes with the car was useless, and the AA fared no better. Two hours, a cab ride for my wife and two young daughters home, and £137 for a new tyre later, and I was on my way again - but we didn't make it to the Riverside...
