Ultracrete permanent pothole repair is certainly leading the way in repairing both DIY repairs and now with HAPAS approval it can be used in many commercial and highway situations. |

I hit a pothole on the way to hospital with my son during the night earlier in the year. I requested re-imbursement of £ 200 for a new alloy wheel and tyre that was rejected under section 58 of the highways act. I requested the maintenance records for the road and received them. The road had been subject to an ad-hoc inspection 2 weeks prior to my incident. The size of the hole was approx. 2 ft long x 1 ft wide x 4" deep. It was given a cat 2 - 25 day response. It was located just to the left of a speed cushion on a 30 mph road. I know this was a low speed road but the size of the pothole meant damage to anyone hitting the pothole was inevitable. The hole may have even been temporarily repaired the following day after the ad-hoc inspection (I am awaiting clarification on this), but this repair had not lasted the 2 weeks that followed when I hit the pot hole. Surely potholes and even temporary repairs (if there was one) should be signposted to road users to make them aware of the repair, if it is known that they can fail prior to a permenant repair. A simple triangle sign at the road side or at least a bit of spray paint around it would do. The location of the pothole in relation to the speed cushion meant that the wheels of any car would be directly in the line of the pothole when travelling, so impact was pretty much guarunteed. Also looking back at the records this patch of road seems to have been worked on a ridiculous amount of times - 12 times in the last year. Does anyone have any advice?
