Successful Claim - Pothole - Thanks Potholes.co.uk

by doitsy

21 Sep 2011

I hit a pothole back in January this year, I reported it to Cambs County Council straight away and sent off the claim form for the £330 of damage it caused (new alloy, tyre, balancing, VAT etc).
Shock horror, they came back and said 'no'.
I followed the brilliant advice of Potholes.co.uk,I submitted a FOI request and studied the results.
I then submitted an appeal letter in July, mainly concentrating on the information supplied regarding their inspections, and my photographic evidence of their failure to fix the pothole. After 6 weeks I received an email from their Claims department offering me £280 for my claim, but not admitting any liability - I'm waiting for the cheque to arrive, but wanted to say a big 'thanks' to the advice on this website. Its helped me immensly :-)
