Tree root in pulling in bay

by dbent

08 Dec 2011

The road is single track with pulling in spaces. It was about 7pm and dark when I saw a car coming towards me and so I drove slowly into a pulling in space. As I did I felt a huge 'bump' which I thought was a pothole and the passenger tire.

There are no lights so I felt all the tires but they appeared okay, and I couldn't see anything but an innocuous looking tree root. I drove on to find a light but the car was trying to go into the hedge.

My friend Roger the farmer found the problem, a big bent tracking rod, he straightened it to get me to the garage where it was replaced along with the passenger tire which had a chunk out of it to the cost of £300

I am going back there tonight, i know the oncoming vehicles will see the pulling in place and expect me to pull in so I will have to make sure I stop at the one before if i can.
