Macclesfield Pothole

by Phillmarley

02 Jan 2012

On New Years Eve, I was travelling south down Oxford Road in Macclesfield, when I was forced to drive through a pothole out side the Oxfford pub on Oxford Road, due to oncoming traffic and the proximity of a parked car at the roadside.

My car, an 08 reg Fiat 500, sustained a puncture, and damage to the side wall of the tyre which means I will need a new one - the tyre, a 195/45 R16 V retails for around £100, so I will be putting in a claim to those responsible for maintenance of this portion of road.

The pothole is approximately 30" long by 14" wide, and around 4" deep, and its position some 8ft or so from the parked cars means that small cars are VERY likely to fall into it, particularly if there is oncoming traffic, so BEWARE!!
