Sunken drain

I hit this pothole in my Alfa 156 jtdm and ripped the guts out of my n/s inner CV joint, it lasted long enough till i was going northbound on the M1 when the vibration got so bad it was no longer safe to drive.
I had the car recovered by my insurance Co. but I will have to pay the £250 excess for repairs to take place, I had to use my insurance to collect the car because the AA wanted £109 to tow me to a local garage as they consider it an RTC not a breakdown :-(.
