Peter Barrats exit/entrance NE3 5EP

by kdol

10 Jan 2012

The exit / entrance is at the back of Gosforth Park and is used by a variety of traffic including pedestrians & runners (no footpath!!) plus cyclists as well as motorised vehicles.
Currently Fastflow have errected protective barriers across part of the exit and over a third of the road. This makes turing out of the site precarious.
Running off the edge of the road whilst trying to ensure a safe exit especially when dark is simple. Even in broad day light whilst taking photographs 3 cars out of 10 ran off the edge of the road most others only just missed the potholes.
I have checked the site on Google maps and it shows clearly that the edging white stripes have been worn away.
The larger pothiole is 31 inches (800mm) long, 15 inches ((400mm)wide and 6 inches (150mm) deep.. This burst a tyre when driving over it.

Pothole location
19 Great Lime Rd, North Tyneside NE12 7, UK
Status
Unfilled

Update 18th Jan.rnWas asked to meet up with a council assessor at the pothole. Guy was fine , took his own photos, measured up the potholes and commented that they were due to drivers turning too wide out of the exit / heavy delivery trucks. He commented that all road markings had been erroded also. He showed the report he had completed - to be honest there was nothing different to the details that were submitted to the council.rnI asked what happens next, he commented the next time their guys were in the area he would get them to fill in the potholes with aggregate - part of this was to stop the road being seen as being wider than it is i.e. to try and keep drivers on the main carriageway.rnHe asked if there was a claim for damage being made and when confirmed he said his report would typically go through by the end of next week to the claims department and at that point we would hear what if anything was likely to happen. He stated the council have 60 days in which to handle the next stage but would likely be less than that time.rnrnSo not a lot of progress as yet but additional costs being incurred - are these claimable?
