Newlands Drive Hamilton

by Beemer

21 Jan 2012

I drive a Mazda MX-5 that has 17" low profile tyres fitting as standard. Although I do not yet have visible damage to suspension, wheels or tyres I feel that before long something is going to be damaged as a result of my daily trips along Newlands Drive, Hamilton. If I am on the left and meet an oncoming vehicle I cannot negotiate around the multiple potholes so always have to let the oncoming vehicle have precedence.

The potholes in this very busy road have been growing since October 2012 and are very much worse from December onward.

The roads department of North Lanarkshire Council or their appointed contractors have not been doing a good job to maintain this road in a safe state. I have reported this to my local MP as part of an issued survey.

I am cynical about infill repairs as to me it is in the contractors interest to bid low to ensure the business then not to complete a first class job so that with a long contract in place they can charge again for repeat work.
