pot hole on limers lane

by bigal78

03 Feb 2012

I was driving home to wellington in somerset after picking up a new car from a dealer on the A35 between Honiton and Axminster in Devon. After turning into limers lane (signposted to Dunkeswell) shortly after crossing the hump back bridge I rounded a small corner to the left, I saw the pot hole at the side of the road but faced with on coming traffic I had no choice but to slow as much as possible and hit it. The impact burst the near side front tyre of the car. I limped a further hundred yards or so and fortunately found a small pull in where I could change the wheel. I preceeded home, feeling rather annoyed about this but my problems had only just begun. When I got home I discovered the impact had broken one of the exhaust mountings, this was another annoyance but cheaply and easily fixed. I then noticed a rattle from the car which after being checked by a mechanic has been diagnosed as the flywheel and likely to cost as much as £700 to repair.
