Just unacceptable

Our roads are a mess and need to be sorted out. Its frustrating when your made to pay so much road tax and the government aren't even doing their job! I am beginning to get tired of the constant dodging of pot holes and think that we all to begin making a much bigger fuss about it.
My incident occured when i was driving down a country road and hit a pothole, next thing i know the tyre was burst and a strange noise was coming from the car. I pulled into a hotel which was a few metres away and the security guard said, " thats the 3rd car today," (this was at 5:30 in the evening!). a few moments later another car pulls in with a burst tyre!
After I spoke to the security guard i began attending to the tyre and was extremley annoyed to see that the pothole had damaged my alloy wheels that I had spent £200.00 refurbishing literally a week before and dreaded to find out what unseen damage it had done to my car.
The pothole was about 1.5ft long, 1ft wide and about 5-6 inches deep!
I took pictures of the pothole and the damge and called the council the next day. They sent an incident report form a few weeks after and i sent it back containing the details.
A few weeks later I recieved a letter saying that my claim had been rejected because the incident occured inbetween their inspection of the road. I called them up and found the road only had to be inspected 3 times a year which means that 121 days in which you can hit a pothole down that road and they won't have to pay! Thats just ridculous!!
The damage totalled to £250 and there are still creeks coming from the car.
The road conditions need to be addressed and I would appreciate any useful feedback that anyone has on the issue.

I feel sorry for you. It only seems to affect drivers with low profile tyres and alloys. The councils are leaving us behind and have no right to not look after the roads.

tell me about it I drive ajag only just over tear old and low profile tyres fitted as standard and i ve had two tyres in two weeks , plus need to have jaguar track wheels, the road im doing it on is private, i have a static caravan on this caravan park in the lakes and at over £165 a tyre its a costly weekend, the road up to my caravan is the highest its full of potholes and loads stones and slate (old slate Quarry) . the owners cant see problem and answer no one else has this ( most have 4x4s and love off road experience) and no way will pay foe even one tyre, i drive there and got flat next morning week before going home , always damage is inside front or offside, owner said something up with car or tyres, very upsetting as cant move to another site as van is now 8yrs old. the site is having loads work done at top ends near me and they wont fix road till work finished.
