Collapsed edge of roadway

by Gower

29 Mar 2012

The road is very narrow and the bend is partially blind so that traffic has to cut the corner if they meet something coming the other way. A few days after hitting the hole someone came and filled it with a tarmac repair. This is already breaking up again as the hole was not cut out but simply a blob of tarmac put on top of the earth.

My wife hit the pothole in the dark and the rain on the way back from work when she met the bus coming the other way. The tyre instantly deflated. It was subsequently found to have a 20mm tear in the inner shoulder. Being a modern Audi there is no spare wheel and the tyre repair liquid could not cope with such large damage. Whe had to limp home and then we called the RAC to have the car taken back into Swansea the next day to have the tyre replaced. This caused me to lose half a day off work getting this sorted.

Carriageway edge deterioration there, get the claim in and check the exact spot on Google Streetview to gather evidence.
