Time spent pays off

My husband hit a large pothole back in January, damaging both the wheel and tyre. We made a claim against Kent Highways, which was (as expected) initially rejected (in June!)

However, following the advice on this site, I obtained the documents under FOI, which showed that the council knew about the hole (and had noted the large size and depth of it) but failed to complete the repair within their own target timescales.

Armed with this information, I wrote back and within a few days, along comes a letter saying that 'new information' had come to light. To cut a long story short, we have just received the cost of the wheel plus 50% of the cost of the tyre (only because we didn't have an invoice to prove how 'new' the tyre was).
