Weston Heath, Newport, A41

by DinghyBits

03 Jan 2010

On Saturday 2nd January I hit a large pothole on the southbound side of the main A41 trunk road at Weston Heath three miles south of Newport, Shropshire. It was dark, I didn't see it in advance and it's caused irreparable damage to my offside front tyre. The length and depth of this hole, one of many along this stretch of road, means that at around fifty miles per hour you drop into the hole, then hit the front leading edge of the tarmac and I just knew that I wasn't going to get away with it. I note that two other reports of different potholes on this section of road have already been placed. I have e-mailed the Shropshire Council with a report and photographic evidence today and informed them that I intend to claim against their insurers. We'll see what happens, but I'm a pretty tenacious fellow at heart...
