brits can't do roads

by willem_4

21 Feb 2010

The council redid a 0.5 mile stretch of road further north last year. This stretch was actually better than the stretch more south. It was probably a case of using some leftover budget in March/April.

In true british fashion, a first surface was laid, all road markings were painted the next day, then the topping was put in place *right over the painted lines the day after*. It then took another week before the road marks were painted. Again.

This new stretch is very uneven (undulates) and eroding already.

Most, if not all of Europe manages to put a good quality, flat stretch of road down. Here in britain, road quality resembles that of a third-world country.

Pothole location
Chester Rd, Trafford M32 8, UK

i reckon some 3rd world countries have better road surfaces - i drive approx 20K per year around sussex and surrey - some of the roads ( A roads ) resemble rough tracks !rnI've contacted chief highways officer for sussex (tony toynton) suggesting that even if they can't repair them, because they have robbed the road maintenance budget to secure thier pensions, they could at least place pothole warning signs by potholes to stop many motorists damaging thier cars on the SAME POTHOLE - mr toynton said he'd let his engineers know about my comments - as much use as a chocolate fireguard !rnrn
