BIG Pothole!

The roads around our house are always pretty poor and are frequently having potholes repaired, however on this particular occasion a considerable amount of damage occured to my car.
There is no street lighting on this road. It is a major bus route, along with the main route for the military and all their vehicles.
This road is an A road and traffic is fairly busy at all times of the day.
It was dark and as i hit the pothole (which i was unaware was there!) i heard a loud bang and the car immediately pulled left. I was unaware what exactly had happened as continued on my journey.
The next morning when i went to drive my car to work i noticed the front left tyre was flat and with considerable damage to my alloy wheel.
After seeking professional advice I am also told that not only do i have a puncture, but i have a buckled wheel. I am booked in at a garage for repair currently quoted at £281.28 for repair and labour charges. With possibility of further work should it be required.
