large number of potholes along a short stretch of road

On Tuesday I nearly fell of my motorcycle due to a pothole. It was not the fact that I had driven into one, it was the fact that I had not noticed one when I came to a stop. So when I came to put my feet down in order to keep my balance, were I expected to find the road surface there was just a deep hole that my foot went into causing me to momenterily loose my balance.
If I had of lost my balance and the bike had fallen over, as well as there being a repair cost I could quite easily have been trapped beneath 250kg of motorcycle.
