Deep pothole in centre of road

I use this raod every day so I was already aware of various potholes. This hole appeared after the heavy snow in early 2010 and was only a minor one for a long time but recenly (since early March) it has grown substantially and is now a major hazard. It is just around a blind corner and the road is fairly narrow so the other day I was forced into it by an oncoming car. The impact has bent the rim of one of my alloy wheels and will cost at least £200 to repair!
