Expensive damage

Coming back from London to Fleet using the M3 exiting at junction 4a, I went round the roundabout connecting A3013 and the B3014. I was behind a Morison delivery lorry and moving at the same speed as it (painfully slowly). As I got onto the roundabout the steering of my car shook violently and I almost lost control of my car. I honestly thought I had run over a deer or a large animal as my car skipped out and jumped side to side very violently. As soon as I exited the roundabout my car felt damaged. I pulled over in the lay-by to check what had happened. Upon inspection, both near side alloys were chipped and scratched, the tyres were still inflated but badly scrubbed. I drove the final 2 miles home very cautiously with a serious vibration in my steering wheel and when breaking. The next day I took my car to a garage to have the wheel checked. The garage advised me to have the wheels balanced which they started to do. As the mechanic was balancing the near side wheels, he invited me into the workshop to show me something. My wheel was on the balancing machine and when spinning was clearly no longer circular. The other wheel was the same. I have enquired into the cost of two new alloy wheels for my car and been give the price of £485 each... as you can imagine I am far from happy. There should be warning signs up all over that roundabout, it is only a matter of time before there is a nasty accident there due to the multiple potholes and cracks in the road.

Naturally, I am perusing the route to claim against the council!
