Cadsden Road, just off the A4010 in Buckinghamshireby zepher 12 Apr 2010
It was a lovely Saturday drive that ended in a £300 trip to local tyre service centre. I was driving down the de restricted road that connects Great Missenden and Askett, I belive this is called Cadsdean Road. Heading towards Askett the road twists and turns through woodland, after a sweeping right turn it starts descending, at this point the road turns into 15 -20 meters of seriously bad pot holes, the actual road foundations appear to have shifted and given way too. It unsettled my car badly un weighting the front wheels before loading them up again over the really poor & large pot holes. My front right tyre blew out and it left a big bulge in the sidewall of the front left, I was travelling at around 40mph, god knows what would have happened at the national speed limit!! Both tyres were damaged beyond repair costing me £300 to replace. I went back to this section of road on Sunday armed with my camera, still and video. Every single car, motor bike & bicycle that passed had problems passing over this mess. Local drivers (who knew the road) slowed before the bend and moved to the opposite side of the road where the surface is much better. I chatted to locals who were walking on the public footpaths, they said the road has caused many car casualties and the council have known for months about it. |
