I saw this on the BBC website and thought it's worth sharing....especially the outrageous claim that minor defects are repaired within 28 days...! |
Pothole location

I think this is a scheme with long term goals to improve the condition of the roads in Northampton - it said that the repairs are permanent rather than temporary. This should eventually reduce the number of potholes because a lot of the problem is that when a temporary pothole is put in it often is never replaced. This leads to a series of temporary repairs that are continually failing with the problem never being addressed properly. The overall state of the road deteriorates with time as permanent fixes are few and far between. Also it should be noted that Northampton council recently stated that it requires £120 million to fix it's roads and was given £4 mill so it's a case of their budget being far too finely stretched and as a result something has to give - this is a compromise with a look to long term road improvement. But i'm sure that won't be much compensation to anyone who hits one of these potholes while they are waiting to be repaired...
