Pot Holes - 3 in a rowby MsJEM 19 May 2010 There are 3 pot holes in a row as you travel from Tenterden towards Cranbrook on the Cranbrook Road. They are just outside a house called Fairlight. It is impossible to avoid them if something is on the other side of the road and it is risky trying to avoid them because you are very near bends obstructing you view of approaching traffic. (See photos.) You can just about avoid the last pot hole if you run your wheels half off the road. I hit these pot holes regularly everyday on my journey to work and running errands. I reported them weeks ago on a telephone hot line to Ashford Borough Council and nothing has been done about them. I have now burst a tyre and my car is also due for a service and I'm going to be checking out if there has been any further damage done as a result. |

If you reported them weeks ago and no council action occurred as a result then it sounds like the council may be at fault in their maintenance of the road and so liable and open to a claim. Request an FOI from your council (for details on doing this visit our "how to claim" section) and see how often the road is supposed to be checked and how rapidly repairs are suppose to be carried out once a fault has been found. Once you have all this information you can ascertain how and where the council have been at fault for this road and your chances of a successful claim will increase if armed with this knowledge! Good luck!
