Claiming after a few months have passed?

Back in March I damaged 2 of my tyres and wheels while driving on the A21 in Kent. It's not an ideal place to stop and take photos and at the time I was unaware I could claim for this - until someone mentioned it to me and I stumbled on this site.
I have my receipt for the repairs (over £300 to replace the wheels and tyres) which is dated, however I have no photographic evidence and obviously a few months have elapsed now - it's not a road I travel on all that much and the potholes may well have been filled in.

Is it worth me trying to make a claim or is it too late now?

Has anyone tried to claim in Kent and succeeded?
