Multiple pot holes and negative camber

by boris1664

05 Sep 2010

i was driving down this road very slowly (just foot off the clutch, no acceleration at all) and a combination of the heavy camber to the kerb and a deep pothole near the kerb(offside) as well as others on the nearside caused my car to 'bottom out' as i was driving along. The consequence of this is that the catalytic converter was split and a warning light came on on the dash. Following a visit from the AA very soon after, they confirmed that i should not drive the car at all, because the exhaust could fall off at any time. Given that i had a 50 mile round trip to work following the next day, and for the rest of the week, that was bad news. After a weekand a half of travelling on the train at huge cost, i managed to get the exhaust fixed. A lot of grief and expense for a pothole and road that i could not avoid and could not have driven over any more carfefully!
